Since August 2008, Sarah Palin has been one of the most famous political figures in the country. Since August 2009, she’s been one of our most famous figures, period.
By August 2010, she may be unrivaled in the fame department.
Last week, we reported how the former Alaska governor was working on a TV series about her home state, pitched by none other than famed producer Mark Burnett.
A day before that, her publishers at HarperCollins announced she was embarking on a second book, a follow-up to her blockbuster best-selling memoir, Going Rogue.
The day before that, she was the marquee guest on The Tonight Show, upstaging the likes of Olympic champion Shaun White and American Idol star Adam Lambert.
No small feat there.

At least on the surface, she remains engaged in politics, praising the Tea Party movement, and somewhat involved in journalism … or whatever Fox News is.
A joke she told on The Tonight Show said it all: “The truth is, though, I’m glad that I’m not vice president. I would not know what to do with all that free time.” Bam!
Seriously, though. No one works harder at being a celebrity than Sarah Palin, whether she’s hitting an Oscar gift suite or trying to cash in on teen mom Bristol Palin.
But toward what end? A 2012 presidential run? Tens of millions? A daily talk show? Oprah-like, single-name dominance of pop culture and soon the entire universe?
Everyone wondering exactly that simply enhances her star power, as does the blurring of the worlds of politics, celebrity and the media, which extends beyond her.

Sarah Palin’s memoir, Going Rogue, hit bookshelves and best-seller lists last fall. Then again, Lauren Conrad topped the N.Y. Times best-seller list too. Just sayin’.
In any event, you betcha, the former Alaska governor will be runnin’ it back after HarperCollins announced today that it will publish a second book from Palin.
If nothing else, the new book will help solidify Palin as the most high-profile failed V.P. candidate and not-even-one-term governor in modern American history.
The currently untitled book is not a sequel to Going Rogue, per se, but in keeping with her memoir, it will be a “celebration of American virtues and strengths.”
It will include excerpts chosen from and about people who have inspired her. Levi Johnston, Seth MacFarlane and David Letterman will team up on the prologue.
AN AMERICAN LIFE: Sarah Palin sure is cashing in on hers!
No wonder Sarah’s publicist quit – she gets PR 24/7 as it is.
Whether it’s berating Family Guy, producing random documentaries, appearing on The Tonight Show, punditing away on Fox News or hypocritically trying to milk Bristol Palin and her teen mom status, Palin has become a media constant.
Her latest book should keep fueling that trend, regardless of whether it serves as a prelude to a presidential run in 2012 (publicly, she’s still hedging on that topic).

You just can’t invite some people anywhere! Sarah Palin took a day off from shopping her proposed network reality show around Tinseltown to stock up on free swag at an Oscar suite this week.

On Wednesday, the controversial politician and an entourage of nearly two dozen cohorts — including nannies, assistants, and security personnel — descended on an Oscar gifting suite benefiting the Red Cross and snatched up freebies until their arms nearly gave way. That’s not very conservative of you, Sarah! Pascal Mouawad baubles, Skagen watches, United Hair Care products, and Bloom beauty products were among the items Palin and Co. carted off before making a dash, say spywitnesses, who watched in awe as the group cleaned out the joint.
Palin’s 16-year-old daughter, Willow, had her ‘do done by one of Jennifer Aniston’s hairstylists, and a Hollywood Life spy claims Palin took as many as 40 pairs of headphones!
“They were like locusts,” a staffer at the Silver Spoon’s Swag Lounge snickered to E! News. “She showed up with like 20 people, and they immediately swarmed the place taking everything!”
The Los Angeles Times says Palin made a $1,700 donation to the Red Cross following her freebie frenzy and many hawk some of the items she grabbed in an upcoming charity auction.

Not only is former Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin shopping a new reality series — she’s writing another book!
The still-untitled book is described as a “celebration of American virtues and strengths,” publisher HarperCollins announced on Thursday. It will feature selections of readings and portraits of people who have inspired the ex-Alaskan governor.
“She will also draw from her personal experience to amplify these timely (and timeless) themes.”
Palin’s memoir, Going Rogue, has sold more than 2.2 million copies since its release in November.

The other night, Jay Leno asked Sarah Palin if she had any future TV plans, and she joked that she heard his position opens up every once in awhile.
Well it turns out she already has a TV plan of sorts. The former Alaska Governor and Survivor creator Mark Burnett are shopping a new docudrama.
Seriously. The TV project features a “planet-Earth-type look” at her home state of Alaska. We have no idea what that means, but it sounds … cool?
We’ll assume it refers to the acclaimed Discovery Channel series Planet Earth. Which has sort of already done what they’re describing if so. Anyway.
So much Sarah Palin on TV. Not enough hours in the day.
Palin and Burnett had a meeting with Fox honchos yesterday, and are talking with ABC and CBS today and NBC Universal tomorrow. So this is legit.
