I often wonder what it must be like for grown men to play comic book superheroes. I mean, it’s probably really fun, but on the other hand, you wonder if they’d rather be doing a more dramatic, serious role. Or not.
Warner Bros.’ "Green Lantern" is on track with Martin Campbell directing, and now the film has a villain in Peter Sarsgaard. Most recently, he starred with Carey Mulligan in “An Education” (see image below). That was a more serious film!
Ryan Reynolds is starring as Hal Jordan, the test pilot who finds a downed spacecraft with a dying alien who passes him a powerful ring, introducing Jordan to an interstellar police force known as the Green Lanterns.
Sarsgaard will play Dr. Hector Hammond, the pathologist son of a senator who’s a big disappointment to his dad. He becomes infused with psychic powers when he discovers a meteor and, well, it doesn’t go well – at least not for his enemies.
Blake Lively has already been cast as Reynolds’ love interest, Carol Ferris. The “Green Lantern” characters were created by John Broome and Gil Kane in the early 1960s.

Last Saturday May 2nd, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard made it official says PEOPLE. The couple got married and had a romantic wedding in Italy. The celebration took place in a small chapel and of course among the guests were Jake Gyllenhall and Reese Witherspoon who have been talking about marriage recently themselves! With everyone else in their lives getting married, it is putting the pressure and making them talk about the situation themselves.
The couple already are parents to daughter Ramona who is two and a half. They only announced their pregnancy and engagment to PEOPLE in 2006 after being together for more than four years. At least it seems like a fairly stable relationship and have been together for quite a while.
Must have been a gorgeous wedding for it to be in Italy. Italy is such a romantic spot and in fact this is the second famous wedding in the past month. Salma Hayek and François-Henri Pinault got married in Venice April 25th!
