New Year’s Eve is just a few minutes away, and I’m thinking about one of my favorite New Year’s Eve movies — "When Harry Met Sally."

Can the iconic movie be 20 years old? Yes, it’s true! Directed by Rob Reiner, the 1989 romantic comedy followed the friendship of Harry (Billy Crystal) and Sally (Meg Ryan) through the years.

"Can two friends sleep together and still love each other in the morning?" If you’ve seen the movie, you know the answer. If not, you probably still know the answer. The ending is really one of the best movie endings ever. Harry realizes that he loves Sally and runs half-way across town to find her at a New Year’s Eve party.

And then he says this: "I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible."

Adam-Lambert-AMA-Performance-For-Your-Entertainment-Pictures

For the second time since his controversial American Music Awards performance, ABC has cancelled an appearance by Adam Lambert, this time on the network’s late night program Jimmy Kimmel Live and the annual New Year’s Eve countdown, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.

“Yes, sadly friends, ABC has cancelled my appearances on Kimmel and NYE. :( don’t blame them. It’s the FCC heat … I AM doing Leno though. And lookin into something for NYE … It’ll all blow over. Let’s focus on being positive! :) ,” glam rocker Lambert, who finished as runner-up on American Idol in May, wrote on his Twitter account late Wednesday.

Lambert had been booked to perform on Kimmel’s outdoor stage Dec. 17 before his controversial performance at the Nov. 22 show.

Following his AMA performance in which he kissed his male keyboardist and exhibited suggestive choreography, ABC cut him from the Good Morning America lineup. He instead was invited to appear as a guest on CBS’ The Early Show.

Adam’s debut solo album, For Your Entertainment, is in stores now.

The Flaming Lips will ring in 2010 by channeling Pink Floyd for a performance of Dark Side of the Moon during the Embryonic band’s New Years Eve Freakout!! concert at their native Oklahoma City’s Cox Center. According to the gig poster unveiled on the band’s official website, when the clock strikes midnight on 2010, Wayne Coyne and the Lips will launch into Pink Floyd’s legendary 1973 album with the help of the band Stardeath and White Dwarfs.

As Rolling Stone previously reported, the Flaming Lips recently rerecorded Dark Side in its entirety in the studio with the hopes of unveiling their rendition as a iTunes-only release. The album, which reportedly features cameos by Henry Rollins and Peaches, is a collaboration with Stardeath and White Dwarfs, a pack of Oklahoma City psych-rockers that boast Wayne’s nephew Dennis Coyne as its lead singer. Stardeath also opened for the Lips at the Soft Bulletin band’s last two New Year’s Eve shows.

Back in October, the Flaming Lips visited KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic to perform “Eclipse,” the closing track on Dark Side of the Moon. Listen to their interpretation over at the NPR Music site. This isn’t the first time a non-Pink Floyd cover band has taken on Dark Side in all its 43-minute glory live on stage: Phish previously assumed a “musical costume” and performed the entire LP in West Valley, Utah on November 2nd, 1998.

‘Sometimes you have to take a couple of steps backwards to move forward,’ Hart says.

It looks like singer Pink and her ex-husband Carey Hart are giving their relationship another shot. After splitting in 2008 aftertwo years of marriage, the motocross racer told People.com that the pair are “rebuilding” their relationship. “Sometimes you have to take a couple of steps backwards to move forward,” Hart said.

After their divorce, the couple said frequently that there were no hard feelings. Quickly after their separation was confirmed, Pink posted on her blog that she and Hart still loved each other, were best friends and would remain that way. And the feeling seems to be mutual. Hart said to People, “The thing about Pink is she’s so dedicated to her fans and putting on amazing live shows. She might not see the record success of a Britney Spears but the girl sells a hell of a lot of albums. She’s incredible.”

The two were spotted spending time together, taking motorcycle rides and hiking, before Pink hit the road for her current tour, and they rang in the New Year together in Las Vegas earlier this year.

Though Pink is currently on the road, her ex is finding ways to keep busy himself. “I’m really just focusing on my business but also being a great athlete again,” he said. “It’s something that’s in me. I’ll be that guy who’s 70 years old who’s pounding through the desert on a dirt bike.”
