Controversy of the Day: It turns out that Taylor Lautner’s torso on the New Moon poster released last year — you know, the one you drooled over — appears to belong to a model, not Tay-Tay. We think someone most definitely needs to answer for this egregious instance of Photoshop liberty-taking.
First of all, if you saw the movie, you know little Lautner didn’t need any computerized bulking-up. That boy looked all real in New Moon, and we’re pretty sure Summit Entertainment didn’t hire someone to digitally alter Taylor’s abs in every single frame. He was basically shirtless throughout the entire two-hour movie — so any retouching would’ve been a pretty time-consuming job.
Second of all — if you’re going to steal a male model’s entire figure, maybe you should be a little more discreet about it. Like, get someone to pose for a new photo instead of taking the image from something that’s already been circulated. Just a thought.
The only reason we can possibly think of to explain this is that the promo photos were taken before Taylor had a chance to complete his workout regimen for the role. But we don’t really think that’s the case. Someone probably just took a few too many liberties (or, really, one washboard-rippled liberty) when designing the poster.

It takes an awful lot to make Taylor Lautner’s 18th birthday the second biggest Twilight news of the day, but…
Fans anxious for a sneak peek at Eclipse should purchase The Twilight Saga: New Moon on DVD or Blu-ray at Walmart.
That store’s “Ultimate Fan Edition” will be the only one to feature a seven-minute preview of the third film in this franchise. Based on a press release from this week, it will include:
- New interviews with Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, and Stephenie Meyer;
- Behind-the-scenes and on-set footage, including the premiere of a scene from Eclipse.
The Ultimate Fan Edition is available for pre-order at this very moment. It’s likely to surpass Twilight as the most pre-ordered movie in Walmart history.
New Moon comes to DVD on March 20 and Eclipse hits theaters on June 30… as if you hadn’t already seared those dates into your memory ages ago.

“The Twilight Saga: New Moon” hasn’t been buzzed about too much in terms of awards, but that doesn’t mean the cast and crew will be absent from the Golden Globes, Oscars and other upcoming awards festivities.
Here’s a clip from ReelzChannel in which Anna Kendrick talks about her roles in “New Moon” and “Up in the Air.” Kendrick has been nominated for a Golden Globe for best supporting actress in “Up in the Air.”

New Moon mania is about to start up again.
Granted, it might not be as wild this time around, but a release date has been announced for the Twilight sequel on DVD: it will hit stores on March 20.
In a statement, Summit Entertainment explains the unusual move of releasing a new DVD on a Saturday:
“The Twilight Saga: New Moon will be released on a Two-Disc Special Edition DVD and Special Edition Blu-ray on March 20, 2010 – a Saturday street date that will allow for fans across the nation to celebrate at retailer’s midnight release parties before taking home the film at 12:01 a.m.”
Director Chris Weitz, meanwhile, says the DVD will have “about ten minutes of groovy stuff [fans] haven’t seen.”
Don’t worry, Chris. As long as it has Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner shirtless, this thing will sell well.

For the last couple weeks, The Hollywood Gossip has looked back at 2009 by naming the finalists for our prestigious, 3rd Annual Celebrity of the Year award.
In this section, we’ve been paying tribute to the unique stars that made the past 12 months so memorable for gossip followers across the nation and globe.
Now, following last edition’s selection of Miley Cyrus in the #2 spot, we’ve finally reached the top. Drumroll please…
For 2009, THG’s Celebrity of the Year is… the New Moon cast!
Critics might say we’re copping out by choosing more than one star for this honor, but come on. Everyone involved with the Twilight Saga deserves recognition for turning a book series into the most popular, buzzed-about film franchise in years.
This doesn’t always happen. Remember The Golden Compass? Probably not. Starring Nicole Kidman, it was meant as the first installment in a trilogy based on Philip Pullman’s His Dark Material novels. A second movie was never even made.
So, what enabled New Moon to gross over $660 million worldwide? A cast of young, fresh, gorgeous, talented and seemingly grounded individuals. Below, we note each actor’s 2009 accomplishments:
Robert Pattinson: Might as well start at the top. The British actor has grown into a global phenomenon. He can’t walk away from a film set without being followed by countless paparazzi members, his every interaction with women is chronicled like it’s a Presidential summit and he was named one of People’s 50 Most Beautiful People of 2009.
Over the course of a few months, Pattinson covered Entertainment Weekly, Harper’s Bazaar, OK! Weekly, Vanity Fair and Rolling Stone. He’s also dating…
Kristen Stewart: She broods, therefore she is. While Stewart had already appeared in a critically-acclaimed movie (Into the Wild) prior to landing the role of Bella Swan, she took on a cult following after her performance in New Moon. Millions of women around the world both love her and hate her for bagging Pattinson, but one thing is clear: they can’t take their eyes off her.
Taylor Lautner: He dated Taylor Swift. He rarely wore a shirt. He was actually able to recruit girls away from Team Edward for Team Jacob, based on his bulked-up role in New Moon. Lautner has already signed on for two new movies and appears to have a huge career ahead of him.
Ashley Greene: The actress almost broke the Internet when naked photos of her were leaked online.
Nikki Reed: Probably the least known main star of the franchise. But she’s dating Paris Latsis, Paris Hilton’s ex, and has been involved in numerous THG Fashion Face-Offs.
Kellan Lutz: Has the best young body in Hollywood and wants to be the next Jason Bourne. Has been involved with 90210 star AnnaLynne McCord and… did we mention his body?
