Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth might not be engaged, as rumors have suggested, but they recently took a big step in their relationship:
Miley met Liam’s parents. How did it go?
“They loved her,” Liam told Michael Yo on E!’s Daily 10, referring to a recent trip the couple took to the actor’s hometown in Australia. He added:
“It was really cool to show Miley where I’m from and how I grew up, and it’s a completely different world to where she’s from. We don’t have shopping centers or traffic lights or anything like that, where I live at least.”
Cyrus didn’t seem to mind the changes.
“It was awesome, I really like Australia,” she said. “You know what? The media’s really cool there, too. Even though there’s paparazzi, they kind of stay their distance; it was kind of like Nashville by the sea actually, the town he’s from.”

Young & In Love, Miley Cyrus is filming the final season of Hannah Montana — the Disney Channel series that shot her to teen superstardom — and the sometimes controversial starlet couldn’t be happier that the end of the show means she’ll no longer have to get dressed up in frilly pink outfits and a blonde wig.

“I’m going to rejoice and be happy to finally not have to be…well, to not be somebody I’m not exactly,” Miley reveals in Parade Magazine’s March 21 issue. “As I’ve grown into it, I’ve grown out of it. Does that make sense? When I was 12, I thought, ‘I want to be famous all the time! I want everybody to recognize me!’”
She continued, “A friend came by the set one day and said, ‘You don’t look very happy.’ I said, ‘I’m feeling claustrophobic in all these frills.’”
Miley — who is dating former Australian soap star Liam Hemsworth, her co-star in the new drama The Last Song — also sounded off on her controversial pole dancing routine at last summer’s Teen Choice Awards. Don’t like it? “Change the channel,” Miley retorts.
“My job first is to entertain and do what I love, and if you don’t like it, then change the channel. I’m not forcing you to watch me. I’m not forcing you to talk about me. I would do that pole dance a thousand times again, because it was right for the song and that performance,” the teen starlet says flatly. “But, dude, if you think dancing on top of an ice-cream cart with a pole is bad, then go check what 90% of the high schoolers are really up to. It’s funny. I don’t know if a lot of parents remember what they were like as kids. But I’m like, ‘Dude, as if you were an angel!’”
Miley On Liam Hemsworth: “He’s my first serious boyfriend,” says Miley, who insists her puppy love unions with exes Nick Jonas and underwear model Justin Gaston pale in comparison to her love with Liam. “Nick and I were so young. We really did have a genuine love, but it wasn’t like this. We met when I was 12. I didn’t know who I was. I know who I am now and am so content and full of purpose.”
On Godmother Dolly Parton: “She is the nicest person in the world. She’s so easy to talk to. She’s awesome. I love her. She always tells me just to do what I love and if I’m not having fun it’s not working. I don’t know how old she is at this point but every time she is on the stage she is smiling from ear to ear.”
On Lady Gaga: “I love her. She’s really smart. I caught her on Oprah and she was really chill. I used to be like, yeah, I guess she’s talented but how much is she really singing. But I’ve become a convert. She has to be smart to come up with all her gags and the stuff she comes up with. She gets it. She knows exactly what she’s doing. It’s like Dolly Parton. Dolly plays up that I’m-a-cute-dumb-blonde but, believe me, she’s not dumb. She’s sitting on a ba-jillion dollars.”??
On Why She Avoids Country Music: “It scares me, that’s why. It feels contrived on so many levels. Unless you’re wearing a cowboy hat and cowboy boots and singing and whining about your girlfriend or boyfriend leaving you it’s not going to sell. I think that’s why my dad finally got out of it. You have to wear those cowboy boots and be sweet as pie. It makes me nervous, the politics of it all.

In the new issue of Parade, Miley Cyrus does not hold back.
Yesterday, she talked about how hard the Internet sucks. Today, she talked about ditching Hannah Montana why she feels country music is contrived, and so on.
Her interview isn’t all negative, though. Cyrus had praise for Liam Hemsworth, Lady Gaga and God too. Below are excerpts from Parade’s sit-down with Miles …
On Liam Helmsworth: “[Liam has] become my best friend. I love him. He really respects me for who I am because coming from Australia, he really didn’t know me as the celebrity I am here. I got to tell him about myself on my own terms.”
On Lady Gaga: “I really love her. She’s really smart. I used to be like, yeah, I guess she’s talented but how much is she really singing. But I’ve become a convert. She has to be smart to come up with all the stuff she comes up with. She gets it.”
On her fan base: “I am screwed up in the mind a little bit because I’m not like other 16- or 17-year-old girls. I have no perspective of who exactly my fans are, to tell you the truth. Teenage girls in general are hard for me. I’m not a girl’s girl.”
On country music: “It feels contrived on so many levels. Unless you’re wearing a cowboy hat and boots and singing and whining about your girlfriend or boyfriend leaving you it’s not going to sell. It makes me nervous, the politics of it all.”
On the paparazzi: “You have to ask, ‘Why would any other 50-year-old man who was stalking a 17-year-old girl go to jail, but not these guys?’ I mean, they couldn’t sit outside of a high school but they can sit outside my recording studio. It’s creepy.”
On her faith: “To me, faith is about having a clean slate and a clean start. The one thing I’m really strong about regarding my religious beliefs is that you should know a little bit about everything before you define your own beliefs.”
On Twitter: “I believe God is the only one who can judge us. That’s the reason I deleted my Twitter, because I said I believed in gay marriage because everyone should have the right to love each other, and I got hate mail about being a bad person.”
Hard to argue her reasoning on that point if nothing else. Click to enlarge more Miley Cyrus pictures from Parade and tell us what you think of her interview ..

Despite coming of age in an era where websites and wired fans fawn over her every move and contribute to her fame, Miley Cyrus has no love for the online world.
THG has no love for her, so it looks like we’re even!
At the very least, you have to give Miley props for practicing what she preaches, having axed her Twitter to focus on being truer to herself and BF Liam Hemsworth.
But bashing the Internets in general? Watch it, girl. It’s one thing to call out your critics, it’s another to bite the cyber hand that feeds you, no matter your intent.
“I’m telling kids, don’t go on the internet,” Miley told Movieline. “It’s dangerous, it’s not fun, it wastes your life. You should be outside playing sports or something.”
EAT IT: That’s basically Miley Cyrus’ message to the World Wide Web.
“I just think it’s kind of lame. I feel like I hang out with my friends and they’re so busy taking pictures of what they’re doing and putting them on Facebook.”
“They’re not really enjoying what they’re doing. You’re going to look back and have a million pictures, but you’re not actually going to be in any of them.”
“Because you’re not having fun, you’re too busy clicking away. So I think just enjoy the moment you’re in, and stop telling people about it. So just enjoy it.”
Okay, we have to agree with Miley on that philosophy. It’s very mature. We’re impressed that a huge star can reflect and maintain that kind of perspective.
However, she’s sort of insulting her fans at the same time, and there’s certainly a place for everything in moderation. Click here to follow THG on Twitter!

In a recent interview with KIIS FM, Miley Cyrus confirmed her relationship with Liam Hemsworth and sent a message to her critics, possibly signaling out THG: Get a life!
“I may not be the best singer in the world, but I don’t lip synch, I’m honest. I’m honest in acting, too,” Miley said. “I’m doing what I like, people that are dogging me probably aren’t, which is why they’re down on me., I want to tell them ‘go get a hobby!’”
Ouch. We are, indeed, doing what we like, Miles. But we don’t begrudge you a self-defense.
As for Hemsworth, Cyrus is confident that he’s dating her for all the right reasons.
“I feel like I’ve been with people before, both in the public eye and out of the public eye, that may need something from me,” she said. “He’s not like that. He was already successful, he was already cast in the movie, he didn’t need me for that. He doesn’t need me to make him famous.”
Even we have to admit: Miley has been acting far more mature recently, deleting her Twitter account and keeping her relationship with Liam mostly private. Might she finally be growing up?
