Dean Sheremet is making his split from LeAnn Rimes official. The former backup dancer filed for divorce from the singer in papers filed Dec. 17. He cites irreconcilable differences for the split. Sheremet, 29, is asking Rimes, 27, to pay attorney fees and spousal support.
In October, the couple released statement announcing their split amid reports that LeAnn became romantically involved with actor Eddie Cibrian when they co-starred in the Lifetime movie Northern Lights earlier this year. Cibrian filed for divorce from model wife Brandi Glanville in August.
Dean and LeAnn wed in 2002 when the country singer was 19.

Dean Sheremet has filed for divorce from LeAnn Rimes, following a contentious year that saw their eight-year marriage disintegrate in the public eye.
According to court papers, Sheremet cited “irreconcilable differences” for the end of their union, which crumbled as Rimes cheated with Eddie Cibrian.
Sheremet is seeking spousal support from the country star, and also wants her to pay all the attorneys’ fees, which is probably somewhat reasonable.
After all, it was Rimes’ torrid affair with Eddie Cibrian that was caught by tabloids on video and ultimately led to the demise of their marriage (and his).
Cibrian is also married to Brandi Glanville, and they are also divorcing. She and Dean have been far from thrilled with how this thing has played out.
Eddie and LeAnn are dating now after she and Dean separated. Hopefully, Dean doesn’t follow Brandi’s lead and go all Carrie Underwood on LeAnn’s car.

I knew it was coming!!
LeAnn Rimes announced last night on her website that she was filing for DIVORCE from her husband, Dean Sheremet! I didn’t know anyone actually visited that site, but apparently they do because it is the hot news of the day! LeAnn Rimes wrote:
“After much thoughtful mutual consideration, Deane [her husband’s given name] and I have agreed to move forward with dissolving our marriage. This decision was amicable and we remain committed and caring friends with great admiration for one another. Thank you so much for all of your continued love and support – it is deeply appreciated.”
Umm…sure it was amicable! Did anyone think Dean would turn down all that money he deserves?! I hope he gets half of everything she has! Poor Dean…I mean I knew once they got married it wouldn’t last, but I didn’t think it would end this way! Eddie Cibrian isn’t even cute…or successful! Why would anyone leave their husband for him?!?! OMG…LeAnn must be on DRUGS! THAT is the only explanation for this!
If there is one thing I have learned, a cheating spouse NEVER wins! I know someone who divorced their hubby because she was a huge, cheating whore! She thought she would live happily ever after and be the hottest thing in town. Now, she can’t even hold a man…and she ruined her whole body with plastic surgery (especially her face)! She is the loser…LeAnn will find out the same!

This story basically, legally confirms what we’ve already known was the case for half the year: It’s over for LeAnn Rimes and husband Dean Sheremet.
“After much thoughtful mutual consideration, Deane and I have agreed to move forward with dissolving our marriage,” the country star says on her Web site.
“This decision was amicable and we remain committed and caring friends with great admiration for one another. Thank you for your continued love and support.”
Rimes, who turned 27 Friday, married Sheremet in 2002 when she was 19 and he was 21. They separated amid allegations of her affair with actor Eddie Cibrian.
LeAnn and Eddie met while filming Lifetime movie Northern Lights last fall. Cibrian, meanwhile, filed for divorce from wife Brandi Glanville last week.
Cibrian’s ex has called him “somebody I don’t know” and claims she sensed the attraction between the two when they filmed Northern Lights last fall.
Dean Sheremet and LeAnn Rimes were all smiles just a few months ago.
LeAnn and Eddie Cibrian have since gone public with their relationship.
Rimes’s longtime friend, Jeff Berger, says that Rimes and Sheremet, a songwriter and former dancer, are “doing their best to handle it as mature adults.”
“Dean’s her best friend and that’s the crux of the issue; when you love and care about somebody who’s your best friend – how not to cause pain,” he says.
“Le and Dean are great people and, unfortunately, going through a tough situation. But they’re doing what needs to be done as amicably as possible.”
Dean Sheremet, a former professional dancer, is attending culinary school in NYC. He posted this on Twitter: “Back to school kids, first time in 10 years.”

News of LeAnn Rimes’ separation from Dean Sheremet saddened friends who had admired their marriage and what they did for each other over seven years.
Alas, her affair with Eddie Cibrian – whose wife, Brandi Glanville, left him as a result – appears to have taken an irreparable toll on Rimes and Sheremet.
In Nashville, those who knew the couple recall how they never seemed to be apart. Says one friend, “[LeAnn and Dean] were pretty much inseparable here.”
The spouses were often spotted together at the gym, dining on the town with friends, dancing at nightclubs and even shopping for LeAnn Rimes’ wardrobe.
Dean Sheremet, in fact, is credited with helping his wife – who was 19 when they married – make the transformation from a country girl into a sexy siren.
“When she met Dean, the whole image of who LeAnn Rimes was completely morphed into ‘fabulousity,’” says a friend in the music industry.
Sheremet, 28, who choreographed the singer’s Chicago-inspired video for “Nothin’ Better to Do” in 2007, “saw the potential that was not being tapped.”

But sources say it may have been inevitable that they grew apart as they got older. “I don’t think it’s unusual considering how young they were [when they wed], and the business they’re in,” says a member of their social circle.
As LeAnn Rimes expanded her career into acting, she spent more time in Los Angeles, while Dean Sheremet, a songwriter, stayed home in Nashville.
Rimes and Sheremet’s strong friendship, however, is making it difficult for them to officially split, even as she is spending time with Eddie Cibrian.
It’s unclear when – or if – they might seek a divorce “There’s still a lot of love and respect between the two of them,” says a source close to Sheremet.

Months after rumors arose that LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian were having an affair, the country singer says she has separated from her husband, Dean Sheremet.
“LeAnn and Dean have been separated for quite some time now, but they are continuing to try and work through their relationship,” a Rimes pal says.
The couple married in 2002, when she was only 19.
News of Rimes and Sheremet’s split comes days after Eddie Cibrian’s wife, Brandi Glanville, said they were splitting – because of his affair with LeAnn Rimes.
“Eddie is a devoted, loving father first and foremost and the speed bump he and Brandi are experiencing needs to be worked out privately,” his manager said.

Eddie Cibrian, who is joining the cast of C.S.I. Miami this fall, denied he was having an affair with Rimes, his co-star in the Lifetime movie Northern Lights.
No one had confirmed they were romantically involved until Glanville’s statement earlier this week, even though video footage made it kind of obvious.
In March, a Rimes friend confirmed the singer and Dean Sheremet were having problems in their marriage, but maintained Cibrian was “not the cause,” and that “there have been issues brewing for months prior to meeting Eddie on set.”

Mmm. Probably not the smoothest move … rumored, married (to other people) lovers LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian “ran into each other” at a bar inside the Staples Center during halftime of the L.A. Lakers-Houston Rockets game yesterday.
Hey, it was already a blowout by then, so what else did they have to do? Somehow, TMZ snapped a pic of them hanging together, which you can see below …
In March, Us Weekly outed LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian, who are married to Dean Sheremet and Brandi Glanville, respectively, as having a secret, torrid affair.
This coincidentally broke right as their Lifetime movie, Northern Lights, was making its debut, leading some skeptics to ponder if it was a PR-motivated sham.
If that’s the case, it was a well-orchestrated one, as just two months ago, Cibrian and Rimes were spotted kissing, cuddling and sucking on one another’s fingers during a rather steamy date at Mosun and Club M in Laguna Beach, Calif.
Eddie Cibrian issued a statement calling rumors of the affair “lies,” while Rimes admitted she was going through a “tough time” with Sheremet, her husband of seven years, but didn’t confirm or deny a relationship with Cibrian.
The pair has not been spotted together since… until this weekend!
